What Is an Indoor Water Purifier?
An indoor water purifier is a point-of-use (POU) filtration system that treats drinking water at a specific location inside your home or office, such as your kitchen sink or countertop. Unlike an outdoor water filter that treats all water entering your home, an indoor water purifier focuses on delivering clean, safe drinking water at the point where you actually consume it.
Indoor water purifiers typically use multi-stage filtration technology to remove contaminants that may remain even after outdoor pre-filtration. This makes them ideal for homes that want an additional layer of protection specifically for drinking and cooking water.
Intact Water offers several indoor water purifier models across three form factors, suited for different household needs and budgets:
- Under-sink water filters — installed under the kitchen sink, connected directly to the tap, providing filtered drinking water on demand without taking up countertop space
- Water dispensers with built-in purifiers — freestanding countertop or floor-standing units that dispense hot, room temperature, and cold purified water at the touch of a button
- Ice-making water purifier dispenser — a premium countertop unit that produces purified cold water and ice cubes in just 8 seconds
UF vs RO: Which Filtration Technology Is Right?
The Intact Water indoor range uses two core filtration technologies: Ultrafiltration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO). Understanding the difference helps you choose the right purifier for your home.
Ultrafiltration (UF)
UF filtration uses a hollow fibre membrane to remove bacteria, fine sediment, rust particles, chlorine, and microorganisms from drinking water. It filters the water physically without removing the natural mineral content. UF models in the Intact range include the Intact Black, Intact S Pure, and Intact One Care. These are suitable for homes supplied with government tap water and do not require electricity to push water through the membrane.
Reverse Osmosis (RO)
RO filtration uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove a much wider range of contaminants from drinking water, including dissolved solids, heavy metals, nitrates, and fluoride. RO-purified water has a significantly lower Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level. The Intact One Spring uses a 3-stage RO filtration system (sediment pre-filter, RO membrane, carbon post-filter) and is suited for households that want higher purity drinking water or live in areas with higher TDS levels.
What Our Indoor Water Purifiers Remove
Intact Water indoor purifiers use multi-stage filter cartridges to target different types of contaminants at each stage. The filters work together to deliver clean, safe drinking water from standard Malaysian government tap water.
Stainless Steel Mesh (SSM)
Removes large debris, dirt particles, and coarse sediment at the first stage of filtration.
Polypropylene (PP)
Removes fine sediment, sand, rust, and particles from the incoming water supply.
Carbon Block (CTO)
Removes chlorine, reduces unpleasant taste and odour caused by water treatment chemicals.
Ultrafiltration Membrane (UF)
Removes bacteria, fine microorganisms, and suspended particles down to the micron level.
Post-Activated Carbon (PAC)
Final polishing stage that further improves taste and removes remaining organic compounds for cleaner drinking water.
Reverse Osmosis Membrane (RO)
Used in the Intact One Spring, removes dissolved solids, heavy metals, nitrates, and significantly reduces TDS for higher purity water.
The Intact One Ice requires purified water, drinking water, or mineral water as its water source rather than direct tap water. For best results, pair the Intact One Ice with an Intact under-sink purifier (Intact Black or Intact S Pure) or connect it to a pre-treated supply.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between an indoor water purifier and an outdoor water filter?
An outdoor water filter is installed at the main water inlet and treats all water entering your home, covering bathing, laundry, and cooking water. An indoor water purifier is a point-of-use system installed at a specific location such as the kitchen, treating drinking water to a higher level of purity. For the best water quality at home, using both together is recommended: the outdoor filter removes sediment and rust from the supply, and the indoor purifier delivers clean drinking water at the tap.
What is the best water purifier for a home in Malaysia?
The best water purifier for a Malaysian home depends on your budget, kitchen setup, and purity requirements. For under-sink installation with a small footprint, the Intact S Pure is a popular choice for standard tap water. For a countertop dispenser with hot, cold, and room temperature options, the Intact One Care or Intact One Spring are well-suited for families and offices. For households that want purified water plus ice on demand, the Intact One Ice produces ice cubes in 8 seconds.
Can I use an indoor water purifier with direct tap water?
Yes. The Intact Black, Intact S Pure, and Intact One Care are designed to work directly with Malaysian government tap water. The Intact One Spring (RO) also accepts tap water as its input source. The Intact One Ice is designed for purified water, drinking water, or mineral water as its input source, so it is best paired with a pre-filtered supply rather than direct tap water.
Is an under-sink water purifier better than a countertop water dispenser?
Both serve the same purpose of providing clean drinking water, but they differ in installation and convenience. Under-sink filters are hidden below the counter and use a separate tap, keeping your countertop clear. Countertop water dispensers provide instant hot, cold, and room temperature water without waiting for a kettle and do not require pipe installation. The best choice depends on your kitchen space, usage habits, and whether you want hot water on demand.
Does Intact Water provide installation for indoor water purifiers?
Yes. Contact Intact Water to arrange installation. Professional installation is recommended, especially for under-sink filters that require connecting to the kitchen water supply line.
